About Us

The International Behavioural and Neural Genetics Society was established in 1996 to promote and facilitate the growth of research in the field of neural behavioral genetics. The society has diverse members worldwide spanning an array of scientific expertise focused on investigation of the genetic basis and underlying neuronal mechanisms of a wide range of behaviors as well as psychiatric, neurological, neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. These studies span both human participants and model organisms such as rodents, flies, worms, and fish, allowing for a comparative and translational approach to understanding how genes and the environment influence brain function and behavior. Each year the society organizes a scientific meeting where scientists at all career stages can come together and present their latest research findings. The Annual Meetings include Keynote and Award lectures, Themed Symposia and Professional Development Workshops. The society also organizes virtual symposia, lectures and roundtable discussions each year.
